Who We Are
We are a team of change-makers who believe every child deserves a chance to live their best life and soar.
We started the Foundation out of the community’s needs and Coach Joe’s AAU teams. The community consisted of incredibly talented girls who could not meet the financial obligations to be on Coach Joe’s or any team in the area. Coach Joe and his assistant agreed to allow these girls to play on their team. When traveling, the two pulled their funds together and consistently paid the girls’ way with everything, including food. With this ongoing financial challenge, they allowed me the opportunity to sponsor the team. While I was watching these talented girls play, have fun, and get the chance to play college ball, it was breathtaking. What impressed me was Coach Joe’s and his assistant’s willingness to help the girls blend in as equal parts of the team. Without reservation, I had to partner to help bring about an added impact.

Our Mission
Our mission is to ensure that student-athletes have the support they need to change their lives. We take a holistic approach to player development and support them on and off the court.
Whether it is a reassuring conversation, mental health services, education, financial help, personal training, business prep, or simply supporting them with basic everyday needs, we meet the students where they are and help them get to where they want to be.
Our Vision
Our vision is to provide a safe place where children can come learn, grow, and excel mentally and physically.
We want every child with challenges big or small to feel comfortable reaching out without reservations and know this is a safe space to help support.
The D. Coffey Foundation for Athletics and Education sponsors athletes with personal and
financial challenges that prevent them from getting a higher education and changing the
trajectory of their lives. Our mission is to help these deserving individuals get scholarships to go
to college by sponsoring them in Showcase Games.
We prepare the athletes mentally and physically for success and stand by them every step of the
way. We cover the cost of participating in the showcase games, and if needed, we will provide
the necessary apparel so the athletes can show up with confidence and high self-esteem. We want
their only concern to be is – showing up and showing off their exceptional talent and skills to the
scouts.
The sponsorships will be awarded to high school student-athletes who demonstrate academic
excellence, moral character, and a willingness to serve others by giving back to their community.
The student-athlete will be selected based on their academic performance, score on the Athletic
Coping Inventory, recommendation letters, financial need, essay, and interview.
The sponsorship amount will vary depending on the location of the showcase games and their
needs. However, the full amount will be covered by the Foundation.
